Lush blogger event

A few weeks ago I was very kindly invited to Lush Tunbridge Wells for their blogger event to have a sneaky peek at the new Mother Day range. (sorry this is late- who knew how long and exhausting moving was!)

I wasn't sure what to expect as it was my first, but everyone was super welcoming.
We got split into two groups and first off my group were shown the new products. We were given demos on each one, and able to take all the pics we wanted as well as try them if we wanted.

My absolute faves were the Scrubee moisturising bar, Honey Lip Scrub and Mum bath bomb.

The Scrubee literally smells like heaven, I can't tell you how good it smells. It has honey and cocoa butter in it and oh em gee it's delish! One of the girls tried it and her skin felt amazing. Definitely one to try out, plus it's super cute!

The Mum bath bomb was the first we saw and smells super citrusy, very fresh without being overpowering. Plus a perfect gift for Mums who love a bit of relaxation!

Lastly, the Honey lip scrub. Now, I love a good Lush lip scrub as much as the next person and have made many friends and family avid lovers also. This is by far my favourite. It genuinely smells of honey and it makes me super happy that once I use it to get my lips super smooth I get to lick it off!
I had to purchase one of these as I couldn't have left without it!

Once the demos were done, we had some fruit iced tea and a gorgeous cake made by a local cafe 'Souper Juice'. Just look at it! All the glitter!!! (To be honest... I originally thought it was a Lush soap!)
Whilst we all munched away we got to watch a video of where Lush get their almonds from and also found out that what they don't use in products gets used to make bio fuel. Every little helps and all that jazz!

Back into our groups again and now we got to make our very own facial cleanser, Angels on Bare Skin.

We all took it in turns to add and mix the ingredients wearing extremely snazzy blue gloves 😂
And the cluts that I am got one of the ingredients, Kaolin all over me... which typically is basically a white powder!
We then got to draw our very own lush cartoon person and label it up as they would do when packaging the products.

Overall it was an amazing experience, the girls in lush were super lovely, as were the rest of the bloggers invited and I can't wait for the next one!

No. 7 goodies!

Hey!

So like I said in my Smashbox blog, when I had my trip to Boots in Tunbridge Wells, I also got some goodies from the No.7 counter. I was served by Susie who was very informative and knowledgable about the products which was very helpful having never really used their products in the past.







I explained I wanted to see how they used the Colourmatch technology (after walking past many times and wondering what they were doing!) to find the perfect shade and here's how it's done...

Firstly they take a little bit of your make up off each side of your jawline (which they do then cover up! Don't worry!)

Then they use this little device to take pictures essentially of your skin. This then picks up all the different pigments to decide on your shade using the most found pigment. Clever huh!





I decided on the highest coverage as my skin isn't great at the minute. So... I'm currently a little bit in love with this foundation.







It's not as high coverage as I'm used to with MAC studio fix. However! It's so nice to put on and doesn't feel like you are even wearing foundation. The colour is spot on too. I don't think I've ever found a foundation that is such a good match before. Very impressed.

I also picked up their new power contour palette. This is also a new favourite for me. I decided on the darker shade as I preferred the colour of the highlighter in this one.





Both colours are super pigmented, and very easy to use and blend out. This is definitely going to be staying in my make up bag.

They also had some new lipsticks in too... and I obviously had to have a look! I chose this gorgeous shade, Berry blush. It's such a pretty your lips but better colour and a lot more day to day than my Smashbox purchase!













It's lovely and moisturising on your lips as it's in the Moisture Drench range and the staying power is rather good too.

Next up I had some samples to trial. I've already tried the no.7 airbrush primer and love it, so Susie suggested the colour correction airbrush primer. This made me chuckle as it's shrek green so quite amusing when applying, but it does the job and very well. You don't need much at all to cover your whole face and my make up stayed on longer and was easier to apply when using this.

Lastly I got one of the No.7 mascaras to try out. This is the Lash Impact, intense volume control. The packaging is a gorgeous gold glitter which makes it stands out in my make up bag. I do like this, also I have to build it up with a few coats but that's pretty standard for me and my small lashes!







Overall a lovely selection of make up and lovely ladies on the counter. I will definitely be going back for more.

Getaway September 2016

So me and the bf decided to have a little getaway for a few days and after a little search decided on Cornwall.

Not going to lie... the 6hour journey there and back... bit of a mission! But we made sure we had a decent play list along with goodies.

We stayed at the CornerHouse, a bnb in Penzance. The room was lovely with a 4 poster bed and the most gorgeous sea view. Plus the people who owned it were really lovely too, always a bonus.

We were super lucky with the weather whilst we were down there, bearing in mind it was the end of Sept/Beginning of Oct.

We didn't really have a plan as such but we knew we wanted to fit as much in as possible. The first night we had a wander to get our bearings, so we walked along the sea front and ended up in Newlyn, just up from Penzance. We walked around the harbour and had a look at all the boats trying to get to the lighthouse until we realised we couldn't from where we were... fail! We then wandered back and found this cute little pub, the Tolcarne Inn. We decided to have dinner there the next night as it looked and smelt delicious. Having a few drinks in the garden watching the sun go down, the little lady wouldn't leave us alone... she was massive! We presumed she was the pub cat... after asking the lady there... apparently not... just a very friendly cat from across the road!

Then it was time to go back to the room to get ready and find somewhere for dinner. We ended up at The Bakehouse and I'm so glad we went there, the ladies who served us were lovely and very knowledgeable about the area.

Friday we got up early for breakkie and headed to Land's end, such tourists! It was really cool and we got to see two planes flying over as well as getting our picture taken with the iconic sign.

Next up was the Minack Theatre which was definitely my favourite from the whole weekend. This was a theatre built into the cliffs that looked over the most gorgeous beach. The story behind it was incredible, a lady called Rowena Cade had built a house on the cliffs in the 1920's and had got involved with the community helping to put on plays in the meadows nearby when she realised the next play they were due to perform would be better performed in a different setting so she roped in the help of her gardener to start building the theatre and as the years went by, more and more work went into it to get it how it is today. There are still shows performed there and I'm gutted we didn't have the time to watch one as I can imagine it would be incredible. Definitely need to go back and do this, I would say it is a must see if you are ever down that way.

From here we went down onto the incredible beach that the theatre overlooked for a while to soak up the rays (have to make the most of the sun in autumn!) and then we headed back towards St Michael's Mount. This is part of the  National Trust and is stunning. You have the option to either walk across when the tide is low or to get a boat when there is high tide. We had to get a boat across which took about 5 minutes and cost just £2 each. This magnificent place has been in the St Auburn family for centuries and the current family still live there now. It's a steep old walk up to the main house, so I wouldn't suggest it if you are unable to walk long/steep distances, but as you can imagine, once you get to the top the views are amazing. Because we were so late, I feel like we rushed through, so would love to go back and take our time to look round.

That night we were shattered,but went back to the Tolcarne Inn for our meal and it was lovely. We both tried new things and weren't disappointed. The staff there were really welcoming and it felt like we were regulars.

Saturday then came and was our last day...  sad faces... Jack ad done some searching and had found two little treasures for us to go and explore. The first being the Chysauster Ancient village, run by English Heritage. I was feeling a bit under the weather, again, a fair bit of walking with this one, but again, the views were too good to miss.

Next up we went to Merry Maidens Stone circle... think Stonehenge, but smaller, free and you can actually walk right up to them. This was actually quite interesting although there wasn't any information at the site, except for a sign telling us not to leave anything on the site!

Later that day we went to our favourite restaurant yet. Coco Loco. This was a Mexican that everyone we had spoken to had raved about and I can see why. The hostess was brilliant, and the service was quick but didn't feel like they were rushing you. The food was amazing and so were the cocktails! We definitely left feeling way too full with our Mexican food babies.

Overall, a brilliant weekend away just the two of us and somewhere we definitely want to re-visit. Until next time Cornwall...
