Electric Make Up Brush Cleaner | Amazon Best Buy

So, as everyone in lockdown, I'm finding things to do when I am not working or doing housework. I purchased this back before we moved house (blog post to come on that)

When sorting out my dressing room I came across the package again and decided to give it a go.

Now I don't know about you, I am horrendous at washing my brushes regularly. Generally choosing to buy new ones instead... bad I know - I am determined to get better at it, especially now I have this little gadget!

I found this one back in April and there are loads to choose from, so I don't think it necessarily needs to be this one specifically as I'm pretty sure they all do a similar job.

It didn't come with makeup brush cleaner but I generally use Johnson's baby shampoo which works a treat and it super cheap, although if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Johnsons, baby shampoo, Makeup Brush Cleaner                make up brush cleaner, water, make up

The product came with 7 adaptors, one of which with 8 sizes in and as yet I haven't come across a brush that hasn't fit one of them. What I will say is, I have been trying to ensure I use one slightly smaller so it holds it tight and doesn't fly out, covering me in dirty soapy water... which definitely didn't happen...

Below are some before and after pictures that I remembered to take and I have to say, I didn't think there would be an issue with the cleaning aspect, but the drying I was extremely impressed with.
The wand has two speeds, the first for cleaning and the second for drying. One thing I have been doing is taking it out of the bowl to use the drying option. (It doesn't say to do this - I just found it helped the drying process)

I am having to clean my flat brushes manually, but with it only being a couple of my massive stash, I don't mind!

I would love to know how you clean your brushes and what you use.

Much Love as always,

The Mexican Kitchen | Review

Nowadays there are so many restaurants in my hometown, that it's hard to keep up and to actually eat in them all!

When myself and Emma finally found an evening to go out for Dinner for the first time in 10 years on our own, we jumped at the chance to try out the New Mexican restaurant.

Mexican is one of my all time favourites and we haven't had a decent one in Tunbridge Wells for what seems like forever.

We booked the table for 8pm and were given the choice to eat inside or outside due to the weather. Unusually we chose outside, but it was so hot to start with I don't think we could have sat inside.

As we walked through the restaurant, I noticed a lot of colour, which is obviously very in keeping with the Mexican theme, and outside in the garden was filled with fairy lights above us and flags around the wall surrounding the garden.

First up, we ordered cocktails, of course! I went for a Frozen Margarita, and Emma had a Pina Colada - I obviously had to sing when she said she wanted one...

We also ordered our food at the same time as we don't mess around. Plus we had already had a sneaky look at their menu online, which I find really helps me make a decision when I actually get there as I'm horrendous at choosing anything!

I went with my fave Mexican starter, Frijoles and Tortillas, while Emma chose homemade Guacamole.

So delicious, and loved the presentation. I have a rather big love for slate anyway, so they were onto a winner there, but teamed with the colourful buckets was great. There was just enough as a starter, not too much so you were full before your main, but not too little that you wondered why you bothered.

Next up we both went for the Chicken Tanga Enchilada...

This came with a small portion of Mexican rice and garnish, with sour cream drizzled on top. When we got them, I thought there wasn't much there, but the meat was so tasty that it was definitely enough. What I liked was that I wasn't too full that I felt sick, but was comfortably full.

As you can see it had got dark when we ate our mains, so the waiter had turned the heater on as well as provided us with blankets so that we could stay outside.

Lastly, I heard someone say that they had Churros on the menu so we just had to get them and we were not disappointed!

Served with a caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream these were a dream. Emma has never had Churros before but I think it's safe to say she is now converted.

All in all, we had a lovey evening. The waiters were attentive, the food was delicious as were our cocktails and the price wasn't bad either.

If you are local to the area I would say to definitely check them out.

Have you been yet? or have you found a restaurant I need to try? We loved getting glammed up and having a girls night!

No. 7 goodies!

Hey!

So like I said in my Smashbox blog, when I had my trip to Boots in Tunbridge Wells, I also got some goodies from the No.7 counter. I was served by Susie who was very informative and knowledgable about the products which was very helpful having never really used their products in the past.

I explained I wanted to see how they used the Colourmatch technology (after walking past many times and wondering what they were doing!) to find the perfect shade and here's how it's done...

Firstly they take a little bit of your make up off each side of your jawline (which they do then cover up! Don't worry!)

Then they use this little device to take pictures essentially of your skin. This then picks up all the different pigments to decide on your shade using the most found pigment. Clever huh!

I decided on the highest coverage as my skin isn't great at the minute. So... I'm currently a little bit in love with this foundation.

It's not as high coverage as I'm used to with MAC studio fix. However! It's so nice to put on and doesn't feel like you are even wearing foundation. The colour is spot on too. I don't think I've ever found a foundation that is such a good match before. Very impressed.

I also picked up their new power contour palette. This is also a new favourite for me. I decided on the darker shade as I preferred the colour of the highlighter in this one.

Both colours are super pigmented, and very easy to use and blend out. This is definitely going to be staying in my make up bag.

They also had some new lipsticks in too... and I obviously had to have a look! I chose this gorgeous shade, Berry blush. It's such a pretty your lips but better colour and a lot more day to day than my Smashbox purchase!

It's lovely and moisturising on your lips as it's in the Moisture Drench range and the staying power is rather good too.

Next up I had some samples to trial. I've already tried the no.7 airbrush primer and love it, so Susie suggested the colour correction airbrush primer. This made me chuckle as it's shrek green so quite amusing when applying, but it does the job and very well. You don't need much at all to cover your whole face and my make up stayed on longer and was easier to apply when using this.

Lastly I got one of the No.7 mascaras to try out. This is the Lash Impact, intense volume control. The packaging is a gorgeous gold glitter which makes it stands out in my make up bag. I do like this, also I have to build it up with a few coats but that's pretty standard for me and my small lashes!

Overall a lovely selection of make up and lovely ladies on the counter. I will definitely be going back for more.

Much love

A Winter Wonderland!

So the week before Christmas my Mum took Myself, My Sister In Law and my two nephews and niece to see Father Christmas.

This was at the Brookside Garden Centre in East Peckham, Kent.

My mum had previously taken the rest of the crew the year before last and the kids has loved it.

So we decided we'd make a day of it!

First we stopped for lunch at The Hop Farm which is about a 5 minute drive away from the garden centre.

It's set in a beautiful old oast building and it's really good value for nice food.

Then with our bellies filled it was time to see the main man himself!

While we were waiting there was loads for the kiddies to do, including a massive chalk board that ran the whole length of the queue which I thought was a great idea. There were also elves with iPads going round involving them in different games.

We waited... Patiently... As patient as kids can wait when they know they are meeting Father Christmas anyway!

Each group is given their own Elf which my Mum was very happy about.
As soon as we stepped inside I knew it was going to be magical... It was like a winter Disney!

The Elf we had was brilliant and she told the kids stories about different parts of the winter walk to the hut where Santa was waiting. (They of course were walking around, mouths open, mesmerised!)

Once we reached Santa's hut, there was a guest book for us to sign which we dutifully did... Adults included... Ahem.

I'm not sure what my then... Nearly 1yr old niece knew what to do when with this bearded man in a red and white suit started talking to her and handing her a present! Bless her.

My youngest nephew on the other hand asked for a toy reindeer and told his big brother to ask for a lion... (Who knows?!)

All in all it was a lovely day and definitely an experience I would recommend to any families with young children... Or even just the adults as I know we had fun!

There is also a massive beautiful section of Christmas Decorations every year and we struggled not to buy the whole lot!

Here's a few of the animal themed displays... Because... Cute!

Much Love,

T, x
