Winter Blues

Ok, So I love winter... Cosy nights in, hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream, watching DVD's under a blanket, nice hot baths with Lush bombs, and all the rest.

What I dislike a lot, is the colds and fluey bugs that make their way around at this time of year. I very much dislike coughing all through the night and not getting much sleep.

This upsets me as I love my bed a lot! So sleeping in it makes me very happy, and when I can't I do not like this.

Last night, I had coughed and spluttered my way through the majority of the evening and woke up at 00.30 feeling poo.

It's then that I remembered we had been given some Twinings tea. I hadn't tried it yet as I'm very funny with flavoured teas. But, this one was yummy! It soothed my throat and tasted like Christmas!

I then remembered that I hadn't actually opened my Chocolate advent calender at all, which made me very happy!

Yum!
These little things helped me relax and I managed to sleep relatively well the rest of the night. I am also going to get some Vix, as apparently if you put that on your feet with socks on, it helps to get rid of coughs. I will let you know how I get on!

Much Love,

I Grew Up!

So back in November I visited my Gran up north for the a few days.
It was lovely just me and her to spend some quality time together as I hadn't seen her properly since returning from Australia.

On one of the days I was there we decided to go to a National Trust house. My Gran gave me her members book to choose which one I wanted to visit.

Dunham Massey immediately jumped out at me. It looked a stunning house, but what made it different was that they had turned half of the house back into the military hospital it has been during the First World War.
Having not been to a National Trust House since I was young, I couldn't really remember what to expect.
The ground of the house were gorgeous, and there was a lovely cafe on site as well as a shop selling souvenirs.

While we were there, my Gran also paid for me to become a National Trust Member, check me out being grown up!

The House, was as expected, huuuge! I loved the idea that we would get to see how they used it as a Military Hospital for the war.
It was used as an Auxiliary hospital between April 1917 until January 1919 and was known as Stamford Hospital.

I found the whole experience fascinating to be honest, loved History when I was at school. I was very shocked to come across some information within the exhibition from my home town!

There were quotes in plaster cast molds made up on the hospital beds, and these two were from where I live!

They also had actors playing out little skits of what the patients and nurses may have been like and also the relationships between them. Having done Acting at both school and college, I enjoyed this a lot.

'Keep the Home Fire Burning' - reminds everyone I know of learning about the war at school.

There are lots of Pictures below for you to peruse. I've tried to collate them in some sort of order, as to where in the house they were taken etc. But I think It's beautiful and hope you do too.
If you are ever up that way, you should definitely check it out!

I hope you enjoyed looking through the pictures, as much as I enjoyed taking them and experiencing it.

Much Love,

Day out with My Grandma.

Firstly, I just want to say that my last post that involves my Grandma, we went to lunch and went to Frankie and Benny's then too. I promise we do go to other places!

We started the day by having to conduct a business meeting rather early and so I definitely needed a nice hot drink. Cue Mocha shot!

This was from a lovely little café where I live that I have never been to. Very impressed with their Mochas though!

After a long and mentally exhausting meeting, that's when we decided to go for lunch. We ended up driving round for so long that we just fell upon Frankie & Bennys, but I do love their lunch deals and the food is yummy!

I love the décor in the restaurant as I love black and white photos and they hate a rather sweet Christmas table as you come into the restaurant.

We both decided on the BBQ Chicken Pizza because it is the best pizza they do in our opinion, we were also piggys and ordered a side order of fries with cheese and bacon... just... omg... words cant even describe... you need these in your life!

Neither of us could eat all of our pizza so we had to ask for a doggy bag. Does anyone else get nervous about asking for one? I know I'm paying for the food, and therefore if I don't finish it, I have the choice to take it if I wish. But I still get nervous any time I have to ask, which is often as my eyes are bigger than my belly the majority of the time!

It was lovely to spend some quality time with my Grandma as although we work together, we don't really see each other, except from when one of us is leaving work and the other is coming to work.

Note to self: Must do this more often!

I have already decided that one of my New Years Resolutions is going to be to see my Family more often.
I don't live at home anymore so I don't see my mum that often and want to ensure I see more of her in the new year.
Also, my other Gran lives up in Wigan, so I need to make the effort to drive up and see her more than I have this year!
I think this is probably the only New Years Resolution I really plan to stick to!

In the Afternoon, I went down to the high street as I had been given a free treatment for my eyebrows as part of a Facebook campaign this particular shop was running.
I knew the shop existed, but had never thought of going in. The girls were lovely, and really welcoming.
I was asked to take a seat while the lady I was seeing finished up with another lady.
While I was waiting, I had a look around and noticed that the ladies getting their nails done were obviously regulars, which always makes me feel better about salons. If someone is willingly going back they are obviously good.
The lady called me over and I was sat down and my head was rested back. I wasn't 100% sure what I had signed up to to be honest. (I'm naughty like that, and hadn't read through the information properly!)
The lady first tinted my eyebrows, after asking me what shade, and me asking her to decide as I had no clue!
Then she proceeded to thread them... ouch! I've had my eyebrows threaded before in Turkey when I've been on holiday and it didn't hurt as much... as far as I remember. But I have to say I loves the results and even booked in to go back in a couple of weeks to keep on top of them as eyebrows can be extremely unruly as you know!

If you are local to the area I would definitely recommend them... for their eyebrow skills at least!
I am going to be going in and seeing what other treatments they do... very tempted to have Shellac done as I love Acrylic Nails but they really wreck your nails.  I am currently trying to re-strengthen and grow mine after taking them off myself a month or so ago.
Will let you know how I get on!

Here is a (kind of) Before and After Pic of my brows...

10 Things About Me

Although I have been doing my blog for a while now on and off, I realised that you don't really know much about me.

So here are 10 things about me:

1 - I was born on Valentines Day... just! After making my parents wait the full 2 weeks after my due date I decided to show my face at 00.12. I love having my Birthday on Valentines Day, at least when I'm single I'm still guaranteed to get presents!

2 - I no longer possess my Appendix or my Tonsils after having them out when I was 17 and 18 respectively.

3 - When I was 2 years old, I fell over and cut my lip. On returning from the hospital I did it again! Clearly I didn't learn, or just wanted to go back?! My dad said they offered me plastic surgery later in life on the NHS as it was a big cut and they weren't sure how it would look when I grew up.
You can't even really see it now, but I like it, as I see it as a distinguishing feature!

4 - My left knee dislocates regularly, always fun! Doctors have told me it is called Joint Hypermobility. Not sure that helps... but I have mastered how to get it back in myself now.

5 - I have a really big family! On my Dads side, in my generation alone, there are 38 of us. Best get saving for my wedding now Dad!

6 - Up until about a year ago, I hated coffee and tea. Maybe taste buds change as you get older? But my new found love has to be Mocha's. Cant get enough. Its a mixture of two of my favourite things, coffee and chocolate, what could be better?!

7 - My lucky number is seven, and feel this is self explanatory...

8 - I worked for Benefit when I was 19 for 6 months and loved it. Only leaving because of my Joint Hypermobility (see no.4) and after my knee dislocating once, was on crutches for 3 months and unable to get to work.

9 - I love Musical Theatre. I studied it at college and went onto University to do the same. Unfortunately, the course I applied for wasn't what had been advertised and so I left.
I still love to sing and annoy my flat mate something chronic by doing so the majority of the time!

10 - My most sought for item in my hand bag is my Carmex Lipbalm. Only the original or the Cherry... I'm not a fan of the Mint one. I can't go anywhere without it! But always end up losing it somewhere! So I now have a tube in my car, my leather jacket and my handbag. I also always keep a new one in my dressing table just in case I run out!

I hope this has shed a bit more light on me and has given you an insight into my life.
Much Love,

Christmas is coming!

It's nearly December guys! I am a big kid when it comes to Christmas. I love it all soooo much!
The buying presents, wrapping them and seeing peoples faces when they open them is just fab.
It's my first Christmas living away from home (excluding when I was in Australia) which means my first Christmas tree, first Christmas Dinner to cook, first time leaving cookies for Santa and carrots for Rudolph. I can't wait!
My flat mate is making me wait until Wednesday to put our Christmas tree up, what a meany!

Today was a good day! I heard my first Christmas song on the radio!

I had my Christmas cup from Costa with my Mocha in!

I also watched Miracle on 34th Street which is one of my favourite Christmas films!

Plus... eeeeeeek! I got my Ciate advent calendar! Oh me geeee! So excited for this! Can't wait to open my first box tomorrow!
I am aware it is last years calendar, but my friend brought this for me as an early present as she knows that I would love it, and I thought it would be greedy to have this years too!
I will keep you updated on what I get each day in it. Or maybe will do it weekly, I haven't decided yet...

(As I was poorly for the first few days and this was meant to be up before now, I have actually opened my first two days, look at my goodies!)

   'Snow Globe'                                          'Boudoir'

Keep your eyes peeled for more Christmas related posts, and I will show you My Christmas tree once It's up and looking pretty.

Hope you have had a good weekend.

Much Love,

T x
